The work is based in research and questions as if scientific method.
The process begins as meditative and explodes in physicality.
I use tar as paint creating metaphor in consciousness and ecological awareness. As part to process a hubcap is used as the paint brush.
The hubcap is the circle container for energized history and human connection to conditions.
I use the hubcap to engage the tar, plugging universe into surface of a painting, and dimension of sculpture, during which consciousness becomes active in a visual language stimulating ecological awareness and conversation.
Tar or bitumen is one of the largest environmental issues we face as a society and culture, and as material in art, speaks to expose, environmental promiscuity of the Province’s Tar Sands, an area larger than the United Kingdom, containing worldwide supply of bitumen. NASA’s James Hansen (climatologist), screams to the world about the dangers of climate change directly caused from bitumen, we as a civilization face- as the Arctic melts rapidly. (2)
